Online Reading Assignment for Oct. 16
October 12, 2008
For class on Thursday, October 16, you need to read the chapter section entitled “Audiences and Power” (pp. 163-173) from Jennifer Poole Hayward’s Consuming Pleasures: Active Audiences and Serial Fictions from Dickens to Soap Opera. The book is available online through the UCSB library (the library’s paper copy is missing, unfortunately).
To access the text online while you are on campus, simply search Pegasus for the book’s title and click on the link for the online text. From the Table of Contents menu, select the third chapter, “The Future of the Serial Form,” and then select the section entitled “Audiences and Power.”
To access the text online from an off-campus computer, follow the same instructions as above after you’ve followed the “Off-Campus Login” link on the main library page.
Please email me if you have any trouble accessing the text!
